Stephen “Stezo” Williams' fascination with Hip Hop started at a young age and was inspired by his time spent on the New York music scene. Stezo’s love for music involves his talent playing musical instruments, which he learned by ear, to his dancing skills to his performance and entertainment abilities as a Rapper. His career began as a dancer for the rap group EPMD in the mid-eighties. While performing their song "YOU"RE A CUSTOMER", Stezo got on the dance floor and did his thing putting himself up against EPMD's dancers at the time showing Erick and Parrish just a small portion of what he was capable of. Soon after this encounter Stezo made his first appearance in EPMD's "YOU GOT TO CHILL" video and introduced a new dance to the world of Hip Hop titled, “THE STEVE MARTIN”, which also had a title track both written and produced by Stezo on the Gold selling “STRICTLY BUSINESS” Album. After performing on many shows with EPMD, Stezo ventured out for himself as a solo artist securing a record deal with Sleeping Bag Records of New York. He found himself in the presence of such label mates as EPMD, Just Ice, Nice-N-Smooth, T La Rock, Mantronix, Cash Money-n-Marvelous and Joyce Simms, just to name a few. In 1989 Stezo and Sleeping Bag Records released the hit underground album "CRAZY NOISE" which changed the evolution of HIP HOP production, scratches and introduced a new break to the world by the name of Skull Snaps which has since been sampled by plenty of other Hip Hop artist such as Diamond D, Onyx, Black Moon, Gang Starr and many more. Within his first debut week, he sold over 100,000 units and topped off at ¼ million sales. He had the number 1 Single in London, England, topped the 1989 Billboard charts, was featured in the May 1989 volumes 1 & 2 of Source magazine, as well as being featured on the cover of the Anniversary issue of Word Up magazine.
Stezo is also listed as having the number 5 top classic Hip Hop albums of all times. As a solo artist, Stezo toured both the United States as well as abroad leaving his mark on such cities as, London, Houston, Fort Worth, Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, Oakland, Las Angeles, Detroit, Indianapolis, Philadelphia, Boston, D.C., Maryland and many more. To his more recent credit, Stezo has performed at countless shows within the tri-state area as well as within the United States as both a solo act as well as sharing the marquee with other fellow “old school” rappers. The music and video for his hit song, “FREAK THE FUNK” was featured on the “Everybody Hates Tasha” episode of Chris Rock’s television series “Everybody Hates Chris”. This is one artist of Hip Hop that may not be known to the young and commercial generation but is definitely known to all hip hop junkies, dj's, beat makers and record collectors across the world. Stezo was always destined to make his name known in the world of music.
